This involves measuring the house, determining exposure, calculating heat gain or loss through windows and walls, testing for air loss (blower door test), examining insulation and construction methods, obtaining temperature and humidity over a period of days, and finally calculating the current energy load for the house. Then, options for improvements are offered, each with an estimated savings. The homeowner can use this information to determine which improvements to make, based on the budget available and the desired amount of energy savings.
Once the energy audit is complete, Brian C. Bishop and Associates will develop a GREEN BUILDING PLAN, which we discuss in the next section.
